With an Hour to Buy a Lake Lot, Is There Time for Strategy?

by Michael Polzella

Dock Tales, Part Three

You’d think a decision to invest in lake property 250 miles away would be the culmination of years of thought, planning and research. I had an hour.

One of 30 early-bird guests assigned to individual Realtors with time to view a few multi-acre, hilly, wooded lots before the “public” crashed the gates of the last community offered along one of America’s 10 cleanest lakes, was there even time for strategy?

I focused my preferences to four: deep woods, mountain view, long lakefront or babbling brook. As my Realtor showed me traditional smaller lots, I pointed to an odd L-shaped one.
