Dock Tales, Part 7
I’ve got a well-deserved reputation for being thrifty. Perhaps I learned it from my parents, who suffered through the Great Depression.
Fearing the cost of adding a dock to my lot on North Carolina’s cleanest lake, I called Tommy Fraley of Foothills Dock & Shoreline, looking for an education. McDowell County, it turned out, had just loosened its dock restrictions, expanding lists of materials with which to construct a dock and allowing for two-story structures. After gasping at some of the costs, Tommy sang my tune.
“Would you consider buying a used dock?” he asked. I could hear the jokes already.
