I Thought Locals Were Chopping Down My Trees Until I Found This

Dock Tales Part 18 •   View Series

One day, walking along the lakefront of my newly purchased wooded acres on North Carolina’s Lake James, I became annoyed discovering that one of my neighbors was chopping down my trees.

I took a photo of the unusually sized small slices that I surmised someone was making with a small hatchet. Google quickly corrected me: it was neighbors – my beavers!

Being the city boy I was, I immediately wondered how I could stop this vandalism – only to learn that beavers help build water ponds, attracting fish, wood ducks and heron. So now I, of course, leave it to the beavers.
