The One Reason I Should Have Stayed in Boy Scouts

My mom thought it’d be good for me to join Boy Scouts and dropped me off at a troop meeting one night. I was a city boy and though I liked nature, I preferred sports, TV and games.

When the scoutmaster directed all the boys to grab some rope to learn how to tie different kinds of knots, I quickly became bored and never returned. “When will I ever need to know how to tie rope?” I asked mom.

I got my answer decades later when I bought a lake lot – laughing at myself as I searched YouTube for answers.
